Registration

All teams, officers, solos, and ensembles must click here to register online. You will receive an email confirmation of your registration. All registrations must be paid for 10 business days prior to contest in order to be placed on the schedule. Payments must be in prior to the event. Failure to pay entry fees on time could result in your school being taken off of the contest schedule.  If you have any questions or concerns, please email TaShane O'Haver at tashane@edanceco.com. All teams will receive four complimentary passes for spectators.

Teams

Registration for teams are $150.00 per routine entered. Categories in which teams can register are: kick, prop, military, pom, jazz, lyrical, modern, hip hop, novelty, production, and open.

An OPEN routine is one which does not fit in the constraints of the other categories, and/or exceeds the time limit for standard team routines. Time limits for team routines are a minimum of 90 seconds and a maximum of 3 minutes, which does not include entrance and exits. Entrance and exits are NOT a part of the scoring process and should not exceed 2 minutes in length. There will be a 5 second grace period, and a 5 point penalty will incur for every 30 seconds over the time limit.

Production: Registration for production routines are $165 and have a 7 minute time limit, excluding entrance and exit. Entrance and exit should not exceed 4 minutes. A 5 point deduction will incur for every 30 seconds over the time limit. Production routines will count towards the teams final average score, are eligible for a Best In Category award, and will be divided by class and size.

Teams will be divided into the following classes:

Public & Private School Teams
Elementary (K-5), Jr. High/Middle School (6-8)/High School Pep Squad/High School Jr.
Varsity/High School Varsity
Community & Studio Teams
PreK-Kinder/Elementary 1 (1st-3rd)/Elementary 2 (4th-5th)/Jr. High (6th-8th)/High School (9-12)
Collegiate

Teams will be divided based on team size and team size can not be changed 7 days prior to contest. Teams Divisions are as follows:

Extra Small Team: Under 12 members
Small Team: 12-20 members
Medium Team: 21-49 members
Large Team: 50-79 members
Extra Large Team: 80 members or more

Team divisions will not be recognized for collegiate level competition, all collegiate teams will be under the same division. In the team division, teams are eligible to receive the following awards:

  • Division I (one 1-2 routines)
  • Sweepstakes (average score of 85 on top 3 routines)
  • Sweepstakes Elite (average score of 90 on top 3 routines)
  • Champions Circle (3rd and 2nd place team in each division)
  • Grand Champion (1st place in each division)
  • Champion Elite (overall top scoring teams)
  • Outstanding Technique, Outstanding Showmanship, Outstanding Precision, Outstanding Choreography and Outstanding Audience Appeal.
  • Best in Category for  each category (if a team is the only team in their division competing in a category, they must receive a 93+ to receive this award.

Note: If entering 4+ routines, only the top 3 scoring teams will count towards the final average score.

Officers

Registration for officer routines are $130 per routine entered.  Categories in which officer lines can register are: kick, prop, military, pom, jazz, lyrical, modern, hip hop, novelty, and open.

Officers will be placed in the class and division which is representative of their team.

  • Champions Circle (3rd and 2nd place officer line in each division)

Solos/Duets/Trios/Ensembles

Registration fees and divisions are as follows:

Solo (Individuals): $60.00 per routine entered
Duets/Trios: $85.00 per routine entered
Small Ensembles (4-6 Dancers): $105.00 per routine entered
Medium Ensembles (7-12 Dancers): $115.00 per routine entered
Large Ensembles (13-20 Dancers): $125.00 per routine entered

Those competing solos, duets, trios, or ensembles will be divided into the following classes:

Public & Private School Teams:  Elementary (K-5), Jr. High (6-8), High School (9-12), Collegiate
Community & Studio Teams: Elementary  1 (K-3), Elementary 2 (4-5), Jr. High (6-8), High School (9-12), Collegiate

Time limits for solos/duets/trios/ensembles are a minimum of 1.5 minutes and a maximum of 2.5 minutes, which does not include entrance and exits. Entrance and exits are NOT a part of the scoring process and should not exceed 2 minutes in length. There will be a 5 second grace period, and a 5 point penalty will incur for every 30 seconds over the time limit. Division 1 soloist will receive a trophy, and all participants in a solo/duet/trio/ensemble will receive a medal. For duets/trios/ensembles the top 3 places will be awarded trophies. All solo/duet/trio/ensemble participants will receive a score sheet and at least one talk tape with feedback. Cash scholarships will be awarded to the top 3 solo finalists only.

Elite

Elite squads should consist of no more than 24 members and should not consist of only officers. All elite squads compete against one another, regardless of size. All categories are the same for elite squads as they are for teams (i.e. pom, kick, lyrical, etc.). Elite teams are also bound to the same timing guidelines and regulations, and the same award descriptions as team routines, but only compete against other elite squads.

Miss High Kick

Each contest will host a Miss High Kick competition. The entry for Miss High Kick is $10. Registration for Miss High Kick will happen at the contest site, throughout the day, at the information table. The competition will take place before the final awards ceremony. The winner of Miss High Kick will receive a scholarship. All contestants will be judged on technique, height, posture, and showmanship. This is individual and does not have any bearing on overall team scoring.

Miscellaneous Information

→ PROPS: Please make sure that all props are padded prior to being put on the contest floor. Props that are not padded will not be permitted. If your routine has props, poms, etc. that will shread, please make sure you have someone to clean up after your performance.

→ SPECIAL EFFECTS: Special effects such as fog, smoke, confetti, powder, etc. are not permitted. Teams who use these special effects will be financially responsible for any damage, and may have that routine disqualified.

→ STUNTS & TUMBLING: Teams are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED not to tumble, as it will not enhance the score. Stunts are acceptable within reason, and Elite Dance Company does not assume any responsibility for anyone injured for stunting.

→ MUSIC: All music should be pre-cut, with the speed already adjusted, and burned to a high quality CD or copied to a high quality cassette tape. Each song needs to be on its own CD or cassette. The director should have at least one back up to help prevent music malfunction. All music must be labeled with the School Name, Team Name, Routine Entered, and Team Division. For Example: Somerset HS Silver Dancers, Small Team Pom. Solos and ensembles must be labeled with the School Name, Team Name, Routine Type, and ONE first and last name of a participant, for example, Somerset HS Silver Dancers Solo-Jenny Lopez or Somerset HS Silver Dancers, HS Small Ensemble, Jenny Lopez. We are not responsible for music that can not read in our sound system, so if using a CD please have a back up on tape.

→SCHEDULE: A tentative schedule will be emailed to you the Tuesday before contest. If you have ANY scheduling concerns you must EMAIL US NO LATER THAN Wednesday at 2:00pm. The final schedule will be given out at check in for contest.

→JUDGES DECISIONS: Elite Dance Company will support the decisions of our judges, as they are all trained professionals. Judges can also deduct points for inappropriate music, movement, or costuming.

→SPECTATOR FEES: On Friday contest, general admission is $5, and children under 5 are free. On Saturday contests, admission is $8 for adults, $5 for students, and children under 5 are free.

→VIDEOGRAPHER/PHOTOGRAPHER: We will have a separate videographer and photographer for each event. They are independent of Elite Dance Company and all orders and correspondence must be done with the respective companies.

→CONFIRMATION PACKET: Confirmation packets will be emailed or placed on the website for you to print or download the Tuesday prior to contest.

Assortment of competition opportunities are currently underway for teams of all sizes and skill levels. We look forward to providing a fair yet competitive atmosphere for all teams to prosper. ELITE PERFORMANCE eVenture

All team members who are inducted into either E-Line or E-Company will receive an invitation to perform at Walt Disney World in Florida. This performance opportunity will occur during the 2009 Spring Break Season during the week of March 9th. The duration of the trip and additional information will be announced soon. These dates will help to ensure the maximum number of E-Line and E-Company members eligible for participation.
